Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman Health Update – Will They Play in PSL?
Saim Ayub – The Promising Young Opener on the Road to Recovery
Saim Ayub, one of Pakistan’s most exciting young batting prospects, suffered a serious ankle injury during the second Test match against South Africa in January 2025. While fielding, he twisted his ankle, which was later diagnosed as a right ankle fracture. Medical experts advised at least six weeks of rest and rehabilitation.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Saim was sent to England for specialized rehabilitation. Photos and videos of him working out in the gym surfaced in March 2025, indicating significant progress in his recovery. He is currently undergoing strength and conditioning programs to regain full fitness.
As of now, there is no official confirmation from PCB or any PSL franchise regarding his availability. Saim could, however, join his team in the middle or later stages of the league if he passes the required fitness tests on time.
Fakhar Zaman – A Veteran Battling Through Tough Times
In Pakistan’s opening match against New Zealand, Fakhar sustained an abdominal muscle injury while fielding, which limited his performance and eventually ruled him out of the tournament. Despite scoring 24 runs in that match, he was later replaced by Imam-ul-Haq in the squad.
The PCB clarified that Fakhar Zaman has no plans to retire, despite rumors to the contrary. His participation in the PSL, on the other hand, is entirely contingent on his medical clearance. Currently, he is focused on rest and recovery, and fans are hopeful he will be fit before the league kicks off.
